Day 1

Today, I began a three-day trip to Cape Cod in Massachusetts.  I took an Amtrak from the station in Paoli, PA, one town over from my hometown of Berwyn, to 30th street station in Philadelphia.  From there I boarded a train headed for Boston.  The ride was about six hours and twenty minutes, going through New Jersey, New York City, Connecticut, and Rhode Island before stopping at South Station. 

It was almost two hours before my bus to the town of Hyannis on Cape Cod departed from South Station, so I decided to explore Boston’s Chinatown, just down the street from the station.  Then, I returned to the station and boarded a Peter Pan bus to the Hyannis Transportation Center.

When I arrived in Hyannis, I walked to the Seacoast Inn on Ocean Street where I’ll be staying during my time here.  After putting my stuff away, I walked over to Main Street, just around the corner from the hotel.  I stopped to pick up Indian food at the Indian Pavilion restaurant.  There, I had a wonderful conversation with Anthony, a person from Springfield, MA spending time on the cape.  We discussed different things ranging from how spicy or not we could handle our food to the benefits of using public transportation over cars.  I returned to my hotel to have my dinner of paneer tikka masala, raita, rice, and a potato paratha.  Afterwards, I jogged along Ocean and Main Street.

I picked up some fudge from the Kilwins Ice Cream, Chocolate, and Fudge and then returned to my room to get some rest.

Day 2

By Nate Feldman June 26, 2024 I work up quite early, around 5:15, to the sound of seagulls squawking outside.   I decided to take a morning stroll to Kalmus Beach , about 1.2 miles south from my hotel on Ocean Street.   Because it was early, there was no one else there, so I enjoyed the sound of the waves crashing to shore.   Kalmus Beach in Hyannis Later in the morning, I jogged back to Kalmus Beach and ran on the sand beside the water.   In the afternoon, I went to a group of art shanties at Harbor Overlook in downtown Hyannis.   During the summer months, local artists present and sell their work to the general public in a shanty in different parks in Hyannis.   I bought a post card from Betty Wiley Photography, a Micro-Mitt Potholder with a New England Patriots helmet on it by Seaside Sewing & Crafts , and a seashell with a painting of parts of Cape Cod on the inside by Flutterby Cape Cod .   For lunch, I went to the Sea Street Café , w...

Day 3

  By Nate Feldman June 27, 2024 My third, and final, day on Cape Cod began with me waking up to a thunderstorm in the early hours of the morning.   Eventually, there was just rain, so when I went running around 6:15, I got wet.   I went to Kalmus Beach one more time to enjoy the sights and sounds of the sea.   Then, I returned to my hotel room, showered, and went over to Chez Antoinne , a local café specializing in French pastries and coffee.   I had a spinach ricotta croissant and café au lait.   I sat there and did some art work for a little while before returning to my hotel room.   Then, I packed all my stuff, checked out of the hotel and headed for the Hyannis Transportation Center to get a bus back to Boston, and from there a train back to Pennsylvania.
